EVS What is it

As a European volunteer you can live from 2 months up to 1 year in a country around Europe. During that time you will get to know another culture through working voluntarily in a non-profit organisation for the  benefit of a local community.
You can choose a project in many different fields.Your activities will normally take place in an organisation in which you will be asigned a concrete task and will have a mentor to help you develop your skills during the project. You will work up to 7 hours per day in your volunteer project. Apart from that you will receive trainings which will help you get to know better the local culture and the country you live in. You will also receive training in the country's language.
All travel costs, your insurance, food, accommodation and a small allowance to help you support your needs during the project will be covered by a grant from the YOUTH in Action programme.

If you want to take part like a volunteer you need time to prepare everything ( finding a project, fill in the documents, attending the answer …) and attending to the pre-departure trainning . You should start to prepare that between 6 or 12 month in advance.
